Various media outlets are reporting the hospitalization of a 14-month-old in Milan for being severely malnourished. The infant was also said to be grossly under weight.
The toddler's grandparents are the ones who brought him to the hospital.

The parents have since been denied custody while an investigation gets underway. This comes after a Milan court learned the parents denied the toddler animal products or dietary supplements, which is considered a vegan diet.
Veganism is becoming more popular in Italy and, unfortunately, this is not the first case of child being hospitalized on the diet.
In June, a 2-year-old was taken to the hospital in Genoa for malnutrition and vitamin deficiency while an 11-year-old was treated for the same problems in Florence.
