A baby pygmy hippo made a splash Thursday during his debut at the Melbourne Zoo.
The 3-week old calf named Obi took a swim in a zoo pool under close watch from his mom, Petre.

The zoo said Obi had learned to swim in a nursery pool before taking the plunge into the deep water pool.
Obi means 'heart' in Igob, a local Nigerian language.
Pygmy Hippos are classified as endangered in the wild.
