Bags of human body parts found in China Township

St. Clair County Sheriff says there are multiple crime scenes, bags of body parts

CHINA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Human remains were found Thursday afternoon in a wooded area of China Township.

The bags of remains were found near Allington Road and Fred Moore Highway. The sex and race of the body have yet to be determined.

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office said the remains are being investigated as a homicide.

"We have three different scenes, at a minimum, of body parts. So it's horrific, gruesome for the detectives who have been on scene," said Sheriff Tim Donnellon.

The Sheriff says they believe the parts were dumped Thursday afternoon between noon and 4 p.m.

"We had a tip come in of someone who saw someone dumping garbage bags on the side of Allington Road, which is one of the crime scene locations, and we're looking for anyone who saw anything suspicious between about noon and 4 o'clock in the area of St. Clair Highway and Allington Road," said Donnellon.

A witness called to report a vehicle -- possibly a 1990s SUV -- dumping what they believed to be garbage. The vehicle is either white or gray in color, possible a GMC Jimmy or Chevrolet Trailblazer. The driver was a white, middle-aged woman, possibly obese.

The Michigan State Police Crime Lab has sent a team from Sterling Heights to assist in the investigation.
