Bass Pro Shops gives special gift to 6-year-old battling cancer

Boy has tumor near his spine

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – A young boy battling cancer got a wonderful surprise on Saturday. Six-year-old Drew Clarke loves to fish, and Bass Pro Shops in Auburn Hills decided to take action and make the boy's day.

Drew has a tumor near his spine that can't be removed with surgery.

Growing up, the local boy fell in love with the sport of fishing, so his family set up a Facebook account called "Fishing For Drew" for donations toward his care. When Bass Pro Shops found out about Drew's condition, they decided to give him a really special surprise.

"Bass Pro contacted us through the website too and heard that we were coming down," Drew's father, Scott Clarke said. "And they said 'we have a lot of special things for Drew to do' and they're letting him feed the fish, they're going to let him fish in the aquarium a little bit more and then we're going to have a wonderful day of shopping, just to keep his spirits up."

Drew was given $2,000 for his special shopping spree at Bass Pro Shops.
