Billups, Smith to host special holiday shoping spree

Benefits deserving Detroit youth

DETROIT – As part of NBA Cares Season of Giving, Pistons' Chauncey Billups and Josh Smith will host children from the Boys & Girls Club Detroit, Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, YMCA Detroit, Detroit PAL, Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, Cornerstone Schools, and City of Detroit Youth for a holiday shopping spree at the new Detroit Meijer location.

In addition to presents and winter items, the youngsters and their families will be invited to attend the Pistons game vs. Houston on December 21st, sitting in Billups and Smith's respective player charity ticket sections.

Through NBA Cares, the league and its teams and players have donated more than $225 million to charity, completed more than 2.6 million hours of community service, and created more than 830 places where kids and families can live, learn or play.

The event will take place at 4:00pm on Saturday, December 14 at Meijer at 1301W. Eight Mile Road in Detroit.
