MONTROSE TOWNSHIP, Mich. -
Lt. Robert Redmond said Patrick Mikes' body was found near Morrish and Lake roads.
Mikes' two sons said he left his home July 27 for a bike ride but never came home. They reported him missing two days later.
Redmond said investigators also found Mikes' bike just 15 feet away from his body.
The Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office will be handling the case.
Redmond said they found evidence in Mikes' basement to indicate that he was killed there and possibly dumped in the cornfield the day after he went missing.
His son, 21-year-old Patrick Mikes Jr., was arraigned on an open murder charge Thursday, even though police had not yet recovered his father's body.
Son charged with credit card fraud
Mikes is accused of using a credit card that didn't belong to him at Great Lakes Crossing on July 26.
Police said the card the 21-year-old used did not belong to his father. It was his younger brother's card.
"Investigators are attempting to reconstruct a timeline of Patrick Mikes Jr.'s whereabouts from Friday, July 27 to Sunday morning, July 29 in order to assist in the recovery of the body," Troy police said in a statement last week.
