Boy, 8, rescued from washing machine

Boy found unconscious in appliance filled with water at home

An 8-year-old California boy is hospitalized after being found unresponsive in a washing machine filled with water at his home.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the home in Castaic at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday after the boy's father found his son unconscious inside the top-loading machine, Los Angeles TV station KTLA reported.

At the time of the incident, the boy's mother was at the store, while his father was outside doing yard work.

The boy was alone in the house for about 20 minutes, sheriff's officials told KTLA.

When his father found him in the machine, he pulled the boy out and called 911.

Deputies found the boy lying in front of the washing machine, unresponsive and not breathing, sheriff's officials said.

The child was resuscitated and transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
