Boy scouts trailer full of supplies stolen in Warren

The boys from the Trail Life USA Scouts  out of Warren were so looking forward to their big fall camping weekend until they got to the parking lot at the Warren Woods Baptist Church and found out that their trailer had been stolen.

"We did a lot of fundraising," Matthew Roeper told us. The boys sold pizzas, gift-wrapped items and did bottle drives to raise the $2,000 to buy the trailer. What was in the trailer was just as expensive. "We had really nice camp stoves, four season tents, all kinds of gear," parent Phil Beauchamp said.

All in all, it's about a $5,000 loss. "This is a huge setback for us," parent Barry Roeper told us.

The scouts are asking that everybody keep an eye out for the trailer. They don't see how it's going to be of much use to anybody else. They've also put up a GoFundMe page.

As far as the annual fall camping weekend is concerned, they're still going to go. Everybody's parents are going into their basements to dig out usable supplies.

"That's one of the best things about scouting," Beauchamp said. "It teaches resiliency and making the best of a situation that doesn't go the way you planned."
