WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

The man charged with abusing two-year-old Damian Sutton could face amended charges now that the boy has died.

Ronald Dimambro is charged with first-degree child abuse.

However, Sutton died Tuesday morning.

Sutton had been in a medically induced coma since he was found unresponsive Wednesday in a Washington Township home.

Dimambro, the boyfriend of Sutton's mother, was caring for the toddler at the time.

Macomb County Sheriff Tony Wickersham says 26-year-old Ronald Dimambro Jr., called 911 to report Sutton was having an asthma attack.

Wickersham said Dimambro later admitted he had shaken the child.

Sutton was first rushed to McLaren Macomb Hospital and then transferred to Children's Hospital because of the seriousness of his head injuries.

Dimambro has a prior criminal history that includes domestic violence and impaired driving.

His bond has been revoked.

Any new charges against Dimambro will come after an autopsy on Sutton is completed.

Fundraiser for Sutton:

A second fundraiser is planned Tuesday to help raise funds for the family of Sutton at Younger's Irish Tavern in Downtown Romeo.

Food and beverages will be donated by the tavern and all monetary funds collected will go to the family to help with expenses.

Younger's Irish Tavern is located on Main Street.
