1 killed, 1 hurt in shooting on Detroit's east side; stray bullets also hit nearby townhouses

Police say bullet went into 4-year-old's bedroom, but he wasn't hit

DETROIT – Local 4 has learned that  a man was killed and another is in critical condition after a shooting early Wednesday morning on Detroit's east side.

The shooting happened just after 3 a.m. in the area of Mound Road and Caniff Street. In addition to the two victims, stray bullets from the shooting hit two townhouses on nearby Caldwell Street.

No one was hurt from the stray bullets, but police said one of the bullets went through a bedroom that a 4-year-old boy was sleeping in.

Police said they don't have any suspect descriptions yet. The ATF and a police dog have been brought in for the investigation.
