Brief Rochester Hills vehicle chase ends in crash

Driver arrested for fleeing police

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – A 37-year old Oxford Township resident flipped his pickup truck over while fleeing a cop car at Rochester Road and Hampton Circle in Rochester Hills.

An officer saw the green 1994 Dodge pickup turn from westbound Auburn Road onto northbound Rochester without stopping for the red light. When the officer activated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle, the truck accelerated and turned onto Hampton. The driver lost control on southbound Hampton and Wortham, flipping his vehicle over.

After the crash, the driver got out of his truck and ran away on foot. he was caught in the backyard of a home in the 800 block of Hampton Circle.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Rochester Hills Substation. He suffered minor injuries to his right arm. There were several misdemeanor warrants for his arrest and his driver's license was suspended at the time of the accident.

He was transported to Oakland County Jail pending the issue of his warrants.
