Cameras capture shoplifting couple at downtown Detroit gas station

DETROIT – It was a Friday five-finger discount feast as two people strolled through the Sunoco gas station on Fort Street in downtown Detroit.

Video shows a man with snacks in his hand one moment and the next moment they're gone. Later, the video shows him stuff one sandwich after another into his pockets.

The gas station owner said the thieves have hit the place a few times. He was plenty mad about it last time, but he knew he was getting new security cameras.

Moreover, the owner said the pair of thieves was so brazen that they both came came to the store and stole again.

The owner has the city of Detroit's new ordinance to thank for catching the thieves on camera. It's now mandatory for gas stations to have surveillance cameras covering every inch of the property before the station can gets its license renewed.
