DETROIT - A six-story-tall Christmas tree rose over downtown Detroit Wednesday.
A crane raised the 60-foot Norway spruce Wednesday afternoon at Campus Martius Park. The Cass Tech Band played as the tree was lowered into the center of the square.
The tree weighs about 16,000 pounds and has a 38-foot span.
Work on decorating the tree is expected to take more than a week. The tree will have about 18,000 lights on three miles of wire.
The official Detroit Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is 6-8 p.m. Nov. 19.
