Canton police looking for golf club thief

3 sets of clubs stolen June 8 from Pheasant Run golf course

CANTON, Mich. – Canton Police are looking for a man who stole three bags of golf clubs from the Pheasant Run Golf Club and then returned them a few days later.

According to police and the club manager, the high end clubs -- worth thousands of dollars -- were taken June 8.

However, on June 10, the same man can be seen on security camera returning the clubs.

The golfers are happy to get their clubs back, but police still want to find the man in case he's link to other thefts in the area.

Canton police have released a surveillance picture of the man. He has a ball cap on and sunglasses.

Police have also released a picture of a Chevrolet pickup truck he was driving - it had a large Red Wings logo on the back window. Police think that logo has since been removed. It wasn't on the truck when the man returned the clubs.

Police believe the man likely tried to sell the clubs, but the people he approached probably spotted them as stolen.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Canton Police Department at 734-394-5400.
