Charges issued for local baby's death

Two charged in Detroit infant homicide

DETROIT – Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged both Sandford McQueen (left), 22, and Karen Marie Geletzke (right), 23, in connection with the death of a 1-year-old boy.

Police were called to a home in the 19300 block of Keating at around 1:05 p.m. on Thursday because an infant wasn't breathing. The child was left in the care of McQueen and Geletzke by his mother and was alleged to have been placed in a stroller covered with a blanket near a space heater. He was transferred to a local hospital and pronounced dead because of burns. The medical examiner declared it a homicide.
