Scene is on Nottingham near Whittier

DETROIT – A 3-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital Friday morning after being thrown from a car during a crash on Detroit's east side.

Police said a silver Dodge Durango and Buick collided at the intersection of Evanston and Nottingham, causing the Buick to spin.

The girl was in a car seat but the impact ejected her through the back windshield of the car. She is recovering at St. John Hospital. She was listed in temporary serious condition.

Her grandmother was driving her and suffered some minor injuries.

The driver of the SUV took off, but was later tracked down a few blocks away by police and arrested.

His license is suspended.
