Clinton Township woman accused of trying to run over ex-boyfriend

Man not seriously hurt, woman facing assault charge

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – A 63-year-old Clinton Township woman has been charged with assault for allegedly trying to her 27-year-old ex-boyfriend.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said the two had been living together until two days prior to the incident on Sunday.

The ex-boyfriend to deputies he had been riding his bike on Eldredge Street in Mount Clemens when Wanda Brownlee drove her purple Buick Riviera into the bike. He jumped off the bike to avoid getting hurt, but Brownlee allegedly ran over the bike and then took off.

She was found a short distance away and admitted to hitting the bicycle, but said it happened when her ex-boyfriend punched her in the face and she had tried getting away from him.

Deputies said there was no evidence to support her claim and an independent eyewitness supported the ex-boyfriend's version of what had happened.

Brownlee has been charged with assault with dangerous weapon and her car impounded.
