CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Clinton Township police are looking for the driver who hit and killed a 20-year-old woman Friday night.
"We work together in the same place, and she came in to relieve me from my shift. The last thing that I said to my sister was 'I love you, baby.' It was the last words that I spoke," says Shauna Roberts.
Police said Bobbi Layne Roberts, of Clinton Township, was walking on Gratiot Avenue just south of Capitol Drive at 11:30 p.m. when she was hit by a car that was going northbound.
The driver who hit Roberts didn't stop.
"They just hit her, and kept going and left her laying there," stated Bobbi's mother, Caroline.
Police said a passing car saw Roberts in the roadway and stopped to call for help.
Roberts was rushed to McLaren Macomb Hospital, but died.
"She was a good girl. She was a hard worker. She was simply trying to walk home from work," says Shauna Roberts.
Police said they don't have much evidence from the scene or any witnesses, but the vehicle that hit Roberts may have damage to the right headlamp area. Police don't know the vehicle color.
Alcohol or drugs are unknown to be a factor in the crash. The investigation remains open.
