Several ski reports in and around southeast Michigan have closed due to the dangerously cold temperatures.
Among those closed:
- Mt. Holly Ski and Snowboard Resort
- Pine Knob Ski Resort
- Mt. Brighton Ski Resort
- Alpine Valley Ski Resort
The worst of the wind chills are over with for now. Still, it will feel like -10 to -25 degrees the rest of the afternoon. And, that is why our Wind Chill Warning is downgraded to a Wind Chill Advisory. Cold sunshine will mix with a few lake effect clouds but nothing more than a few flurries or flakes are likely. Most of us stay cold and dry.
Our Wind Chill Advisory will continue until 10 A.M. on Wednesday as dangerous wind chills will be with us all night into the first half of tomorrow. Morning wind chills will be between -10 and -25 degrees tomorrow. The winds will relax enough to make things a bit more manageable by afternoon. We urge you all to be careful driving, shoveling, and getting through the next couple of days. Check on those neighbors and don't forget the pets. Warmer weather is coming by Thursday.
Snow coming Thursday late afternoon or evening. This one doesn't look like much but may drop 1-2" of fresh snow around Metro Detroit. We only need one third of an inch of snow to have the snowiest month ever in our record books. It will be a race against the clock but I think we will do it later this week. Highs Thursday will get into the mid 20s.
