DETROIT – Stubborn clouds may hinder our chance at 50 degrees today.
We are not ruling it out entirely, but most of us will likely peak with temps in the mid to upper 40s. Skies will be mostly cloudy to partly sunny with winds SSW 7-17 mph gusting a bit stronger from time to time.
If we peel the clouds back enough… some neighborhoods could flirt with that 50° mark.
A winter storm in the Pacific Northwest is on the move and will bring snow into SE Michigan tomorrow night. Before that, cloudy skies and low to mid 40s Tuesday after another mild start. We will see a few areas of spotty drizzle or light rain throughout the day but it will be mostly dry, most of the day. Look for a wintry mix to begin after 8 or 9 pm.
Snow showers will stack up early Wednesday in the neighborhood of 2-4" around Metro Detroit making for a messy morning commute. We still have today and tomorrow to gather information on this storm and that will be crucial.
Some computer model data is leaning towards 6-8" of snow by Wednesday morning, but we are not buying into that just yet. Either way, a healthy dose of snow is likely late tomorrow and especially early Wednesday.
Temps will cool off into the upper 20s and low 30s as colder winds will begin to gust. Thursday looks cold too, but warmer weather returns at the end of the week.
