DETROIT – The Coleman A. Young Municipal Center (City-County Building) in Detroit will remain closed Thursday while it and several other downtown buildings are without power.

That means the Wayne County Clerk's Office inside the building will be closed but its satellite offices in Westland and Northville will remain open.
The Frank Murphy Hall of Justice also will be closed on Thursday. The Lincoln Hall of Justice will remain open.

Moreover, the Detroit primary election recount which was scheduled to take place Thursday at Cobo Center won't happen due to the power outage.
Recount workers are told to stay home and the recount will resume when the power outage is over.

The power went out Wednesday afternoon. A spokesman for Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr says two of five power cables went down, forcing the Public Lighting Department to shut down the rest.
Wayne State University, which is on the Public Lighting Department's grid, was forced to close campus and cancel classes Wednesday. However, the university says classes should resume on Thursday.
