TAYLOR, Mich. - A community gathered Tuesday night to raise funds for the family of a Taylor woman who was shot and killed while working at an Advance America in November.
Tiffany Small and her sister Chelsea were inseparable, so as you can imagine the past five months have been extremely hard.
"She was my best friend. Everything. Her not being here hurts bad," said Tiffany. "Miss her so much. Her not being here hurts horribly bad."
Back in November, 30 year-old Chelsea Small was working at the Advance America on Telegraph Road in Taylor. Police said a man caught on surveillance video walked in, murdered Chelsea and robbed the place.
The local mother left behind a 5-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter.
"They know what's going on. They're doing OK," said Tiffany. "We're just day by day with me. Best we can do."
The community is coming together to help. Pias restaurant served up Italian food Tuesday night, donating 20 percent of each check to the Small family for a scholarship fund for the kids.
"We can contribute and it's going to help the children, brings the community together," said customer Rita Sendek.
But the main conversation at the dinner table was about the unsolved case.
"Hope they catch the person who did this because he can do it to somebody else," said customer Carol Dewey.
The family isn't giving up, hoping that a big break in the case will come sooner than later.
"We pray to God everyday that he is caught. He's around," said Tiffany. "If you know who this man is contact Taylor police. I want him caught. Justice for my family and her kids. I want to know why he did what he did, why he chose my sister, walked in there. Why?"
