Community group kicks off clean-up effort in Detroit

DETROIT – A community group is cleaning up Detroit Saturday, targeting veterans and their families residing in blighted neighborhoods.

"I Believe In The D," a volunteer-based community group is hosting a multidistrict neighborhood clean-up from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The group set a goal of cleaning and boarding up 100 homes Saturday, and the goal should be met with help from the City of Detroit's Department of Neighborhoods, Detroit Land Bank Authority, Home Depot teams, The Mission Continues, The Veterans of Piquette Square, Southwest Solutions and NeighborWorks America.
