Community Unity Walk honored Paige Stalker, Christina Samuel

Mayor Duggan among speakers marking Peace and Unity Day in Detroit

DETROIT – In an effort to bring citizens of Detroit and Grosse Pointe together, a Community Unity Walk will take place Saturday.

The walk honors Paige Stalker and Christina Samuel, who were violently killed with assault weapons while sitting in their cars just before Christmas last year.

Beginning at 11:00 a.m., the mile walk will take place along Mack Avenue from Cadieux to Alter Road.

The walk will end around noon at Alter Square where Mayor Mike Duggan will make an official proclamation to make May 2 Peace and Unity Day in Detroit.  Other speakers will include Detroit Police Chief Craig, and Grosse Point Park Mayor Greg Theokas.
