DETROIT – Construction on Cedar Point's latest winged coaster is moving along.
The park has released photos of the progress being made on GateKeeper.

The first of four steel pieces that will soon become the keyhole towers for Cedar Point's new wing roller coaster, GateKeeper, arrived Wednesday. Measuring nearly 75 feet, it started its journey at Clermont Steel Fabricators in Batavia, Ohio, and required a special permit to travel.
Each of the four pieces weighs about 65,000 pounds and will be assembled to create two towers that stand 100 feet high when placed on their foundations at Cedar Point's new main gate. GateKeeper will narrowly slot through the openings in these towers, adding to the suspense of a ride that already boasts the longest track, longest drop and most inversions of any wing coaster on the planet.
The ride structure is about 50 percent complete and on track to be ready for Cedar Point's opening day, May 11.
The coaster is being touted as the longest winged coaster with the longest drop of any coaster of its kind in the world.
Riders will plummet 164 feet as they begin the 2 minute, 40 second journey along the beach and directly over the park's main entrance.
The amusement park's 16th coaster will be its first since the Maverick was opened in 2007.
