LIVONIA

Livonia is offering its Community Recreation Center as a cooling center for residents who may have a power outage or similar emergency during the extreme weather conditions.

The Recreation Center is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Residents who need the shelter overnight should call in advance and arrive before 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, 4 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday in order to arrange for staffing before closing time. During weekday business hours, those who need the help are asked to call the Recreation Center at (734) 466-2900 or the Mayor's Office at (734) 466-2201.

The Recreation Center is located at 15100 Hubbard, at the corner of Five Mile Road.

ROYAL OAK

Due to the extreme heat expected for Saturday, July 7, 2012, the City of Royal Oak has designated the Royal Oak Public Library as a cooling center. The library located at 222 E. Eleven Mile will be open from 10:00 am and will have extended hours until 9:00pm on Saturday for anyone who needs a place to get out of the heat and relax in an air conditioned environment. 

TROY

Troy is offering its Community Center as a cooling center for residents who may have a power outage or similar emergency or just need a place to beat the heat during extreme weather conditions.

The Troy Community Center is open week days from 5:30 am to 10 pm, Saturday from 7 am to 8 pm and Sundays from 8:30 am to 6 pm.

All recreation areas of the facility, including the pool, gymnasium, and fitness areas, are only open to members. Daily passes are available during operating hours.

The Troy Community Center is located at 3179 Livernois, just north of Big Beaver.

WARREN

Renaissance Unity is open to the public as a cooling center today in response to the National Weather Service Extreme Temperature Advisory.
