Dearborn police ask public for help with homicide investigation

Raymond Mshahwar, 33, shot, killed Oct. 16

DEARBORN, Mich. – The Dearborn Police Department partnered with Crime Stoppers to ask the public's help with information about a recent homicide.

Raymond Mshahwar, 33, was found shot in the area of Madison and Bennett on October 16. Police were called to a report of a person crashing their vehicle into several parked cars, but discovered that Mshahwar was shot.

"Ray is a son, a brother, and a father to a 3-year-old boy who he has left behind. Ray was a great guy that would do anything for anybody. His family is grieving, they're devastated," said Jeffrey Lance Abood, the family's attorney, who also personally knew Mshahwar.

Police described Mshahwar's death as an "odd case."

"We're turning every stone. We're looking at everything we possibly can," said Robinson.

Mshahwar was last seen alive at around 9 p.m. that night at Vision Lanes Bowling Alley in Westland. An hour later, he was found dead in Dearborn, so police need the public's help filling in what happened during the time gap.

"There's somebody who had to see his vehicle, had to see him within that hour, and we're truly hoping that someone comes forward," said Commander David Robinson, with the Dearborn Police Department.

"We're confident there's someone out there who has some answers or knows and can at least lead police in the right direction," said Abood.

Police are currently looking through surveillance video from the area to try to find more answers in the case, but hope anyone with information contacts them regarding the homicide.

"What we're trying to do is bring forth some closure for this family and to find the answers for this tragic event," said Robinson.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dearborn Police Department, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP.
