Dearborn police: Gunman carjacked, drove around with woman

Police ask for help identifying sketch of armed carjacker

DEARBORN, Mich. – Dearborn police are searching for an armed man who carjacked a woman and drove around with her until she was able to escape.

Police say the woman was approached by the unknown man about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. He had a handgun and demanded money from the woman as he forced her over to the passenger seat of her vehicle.

The man drove around with her to several locations. She was able to escape the vehicle at Patton Park near Vernor and Dix where she called for help.

Dearborn police found the vehicle near Michigan Avenue and Livernois. The driver eluded officers, who ultimately found the vehicle unoccupied near Livernois and Otis in Detroit.

The man is described as white, standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds. He has a thin build and was clean-shaven. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket, a baseball cap and light-colored jeans. Police have released the attached sketch.

The gun was described as small, dark-colored handgun.

Dearborn police say this man should be considered armed and dangerous.
