Dearborn police hope man can help return retired Detroit officer's lost badge

DEARBORBN, Mich. – Dearborn police are hoping a man shown in surveillance images can help return a lost badge to a retired Detroit police officer.

Police say the man found a wallet containing the badge and other personal items which belong to the retired officer. He is shown picking up the wallet May 2 in the parking lot of the Kroger store at Michigan Avenue and Greenfield Road, police said.

"We think the gentleman may just be unsure as to where to turn the items in or may have been unsuccessful in attempting to contact the owner," said Chief Ronald Haddad in a statement. "We would like for him to come forward with the items so that they may be returned."

Anyone who is able to identify the man shown in surveillance images from the store is asked to contact Dearborn police at 313-943-2241.
