Death of Warren mom who died after being pulled from filthy apartment ruled accidental

Unidentified woman was found with bedsores, in own waste

DETROIT – The Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death of a 41-year-old woman removed from the filthy, bug-infested apartment she shared with her husband and four children as accidental.

Firefighters wearing biohazard suits removed the bedridden, unidentified, Warren woman from an apartment last Tuesday.

She had been hospitalized before passing away early Monday morning. The medical examiner's office had listed her as "morbidly obese" but did not immediately release a specific weight.

Warren Police Commissioner Jere Green said that the woman was hospitalized a few months ago and that police would review her medical records.

The fire department responded following a call from the woman's husband who told them she needed medical attention.

Investigators believe the woman was bedridden for more than a year. She had bedsores and was found in her own waste. Bugs and fecal matter were found throughout the apartment north of Detroit.

Prosecutors are expected to review the case.
