Local 4 Defenders: Tracking down criminals

Karen Drew gives you look behind scenes

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – How do police track down criminals? Most people have never seen it done, but Local 4 Defender Karen Drew rode along with the Oakland County Fugitive Apprehension Team to give you an inside look.

You can watch the video above for Karen's behind-the-scenes look at how officials track down fugitives. They track down 40-50 fugitives a month, which is nearly 600 each year.

"Fugitive teams are highly skilled, highly specialized men and women (who) know how to find and catch the worst of the worst," Sheriff Mike Bouchard said.

One of the keys to capturing fugitives is the element of surprise, police said. Officials demonstrated the importance of surprise, which you can see in Karen's video above.
