Detroit animal shelter gets fresh start

New form of controversy surrounds opening of new location

DETROIT – Detroit Animal Care and Control is getting a fresh start after facing controversy and protests last year over conditions and care of animals.

The shelter on Jefferson is closed this week until its new location on Chrysler opens.

But the place where people are being asked to send stray animals is causing more controversy.
