The Detroit City Council is expected to postpone a vote on the plans for Belle Isle until Monday.
The council is said to still be discussing an alternative to emergency manager Kevyn Orr's agreement with the state for the lease of the park. The council plans to hold a special session at 9 a.m. Monday to vote on the lease.
The current agreement calls for a 30-year lease of Belle Isle with the option for two, 15-year renewals. The deal is expected to save Detroit up to $6 million a year.
If the council rejects the deal, it has seven days to come up with an alternative that would save the same amount of money or more.
