Detroit family pleas for help in search for man's killer
52-year-old DMC employee Carlos Buffin found dead April 15 in trunk of car; Crime Stoppers offers reward for information
Police found the body of a 52-year-old man in the trunk of his car April 15 in an open field near Biltmore Street and Thatcher Avenue on Detroit's west side.
Carlos Buffin worked as a team leader at the Detroit Medical Center. His family says the father of two did not have any enemies. He loved spending time at his church.
"My brother Carlos was a nice, kind young man that really loved the Lord," said Buffin's sister, Eulalia Lovelace. "It's devastating to us because our heart is still broken. It hasn't mended back."
Police had found Buffin's car in the middle of the open field. He was dead in the trunk. He had been robbed and beaten.
His family is left grieving, searching for answers and closure.
"Ever since he left I have not been able to get it together," said Buffin's twins sister, Clarissa Moore. "I'm just asking for closure. Somebody knows who did this to my brother. Please speak up."
Police say whoever killed Buffin stole his $2,500 tax refund, his wallet and his glasses.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest in this murder. Anyone with information should call 800-SPEAK-UP. Tips can be made anonymously.
"That was so senseless, and I'm just asking that you put yourself in our situation and in our shoes and imagine if it was your mom, or your dad, or your sister or anybody," said Buffin's niece, Dyamond Moore.
