DETROIT - A Detroit firefighter has been charged with second degree murder in the Dec. 29, 2012 shooting death of a 41-year-old man at a bar in the 19300 block of Schoolcraft in Detroit.

Firefighter Terrill Ian Hardaway, 36, is accused of shooting 41-year-old Tony Jackson, who was working as a disc jockey at the bar, multiple times. Hardaway and Jackson, both armed with handguns, exchanged gunfire outside the bar after they got into a fight inside, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

They had been separated while inside but Hardaway allegedly continued to be the aggressor when they got outside.

Hardaway also was shot in his shoulder. He was treated for the wound at a hospital and released.

The Prosecutor's Office says more details about the shooting will be released during a preliminary examination.

Hardaway also faces a felony firearm charge. He is expected to be arraigned this week.
