DETROIT – A 5-year-old girl who allegedly was abducted from school Monday afternoon by her noncustodial mother has been found safe in Texas, the girl's father told Local 4.
Carmela Jackson is in police custody after she and her daughter Zoie were found out of state. The mother, who is diagnosed with Schizophrenia, bi-polar and post partum depression, is not authorized to have custody.

However, on Monday, Carmela Jackson went to the Detroit Community School and picked up Zoie.
Detroit police say she was headed to Mexico but got stopped in Texas on Thursday evening.
She was traveling westbound on a freeway just outside Lubbock, Texas when a sheriff's deputy spotted her driving erratically.
Jackson was pulled over and, the deputy says, she showed some odd behavior. The car was filled with junk food and maps. The deputy asked her where she was going and, police say, she pointed to Mexico on the map.
Plans are being made to get the girl back home to Detroit.
