Detroit hit-and-run victim left devastated

Lindsay Fairfax lost leg after she was run over March 22 on 7 Mile Road

DETROIT – Lindsay Fairfax is getting back her strength after seven surgeries.

She lost a leg in a hit-and-run on 7 Mile Road at Fenelon Street just weeks ago.

The young mother has a message for the person who hit her and left her in the road.

"For someone to do that and keep going and leaving me there for dead, not even knowing what happened, it really hurts me," she said.

She and a friend were crossing 7 Mile Road just after midnight March 22. Witnesses say Fairfax was run down by a driver in a silver or teal Dodge Neon.

Fairfax has a 7-year-old daughter with special needs. The relationship is hurting.

"I can't even pick up my own child. I have to have someone do it for me. I sit down at every activity that we do. We don't go anywhere anymore. We don't go to parks. Birthday parties are cancelled. I just sit at home," she said.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 to anyone with information which could help catch this driver.
