Detroit homeowner shot during gunfire exchange after brick thrown through window

DETROIT – The shooting happened just after 3 a.m. Friday on Clairmount Street in Detroit.

According to police detectives, someone threw a brick through the front window of a home. That prompted the homeowner to get out of bed, grab a pistol and go to the front door.

A shootout ensued. At least 12 or 13 evidence markers were on the street Friday morning.

The homeowner was shot in the thigh. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Detroit police are not sure about a suspect at this point but are working a couple theories. One theory is that there was a gathering outside the home and those people could be involved.

Police believe the homeowner was targeted and this was not a random act.
