Detroit homeowner tied up during armed robbery

Thief ties up 68-year-old man, steals Chrysler 300

DETROIT – Neighbors are wondering why a 68-year-old man was targeted on their block in northwest Detroit.
"It's a neighborhood just like any other neighborhood. It's pretty quiet at nighttime, most of the time," said Lquena Sims, who lives nearby.

The man was in his yard about 10 a.m. Monday. He was forced inside his home in the 7600 block of Fielding. Inside, police say, the armed man tied up the victim and began looking around the house for anything to take.

Then he turned his attention to the victim's 2015 black Chrysler 300. After the robber drove off with the victim's car and other belongings, the 68-year-old man untied himself and called 911.

"The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, slim build, wearing a blue hoodie and red and black shorts," said Sgt. Cassandra Lewis.

The man was in his yard and doing what homeowners do when he was attacked.

The people who live in this neighborhood say it's scary something like this could happen.

Police are searching for that 2015 black Chrysler 300.

Anyone with information on this crime needs to contact Detroit police.
