DETROIT - A Detroit man stands accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy he used to take to karate classes.

Hazel Park police said Glen Norton, 48, was a family friend and would take the boy to classes at Koei-Kan Karate Club on John R Road.

Norton allegedly engaged in sexual acts with the boy between June and December of 2013. The boy reported the activity and Norton has been charged with six counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and second-degree  criminal sexual conduct.

His bond was set at $1,000,000 and he has been placed on a GPS tether.

Norton also worked as a home health care nurse for disabled children and a pediatric ICU nurse with the St. John Providence Health System.

In a statement, the health system said Norton was on unpaid administration leave.

Police said they are working to see if any other child was assaulted by Norton.
