DETROIT – Willie Manyfield says he just wanted to make sure the gift he had ordered online for the 12-year-old boy next door was working fine.
So he went to play angry birds -- the boy's favorite game -- but when he hit play something came up that made him angry.
The software was good. But it was the hardcore porn that turned him off.
"His momma and his daddy, they would have come to kill me. 'What did you get my kid?'" he said. "It was supposed to be brand new. I'm just strolling through it and that jumped up. I'm like, 'What the hell?'"
The android tablet came from Nomorerack.com, a website his neighbor Brenda Collier suggested. He called Collier over and the sanctified church lady couldn't believe her eyes.
"I screamed! I'm like, 'Ahhhh!'" said Collier.
The tablet was full of personal stuff from the previous owner, who coincidentally is from Detroit. His pictures from the Detroit Lions game were still on the tablet along with tons of text messages and, of course, the dirty videos and pics.
"It appears to me that somebody had bought this and returned it, and they resold it," said Collier.
Manyfield isn't a dirty Santa. Thanks to his curiosity, a Christmas crisis was diverted.
"He's a 12-year-old boy like back in our day, not like one of these 12-year-olds from now days. That would have blew his mind," said Collier.
