Detroit man killed in rollover crash on I-96

Michigan State Police say driver wasn't wearing seat belt, lost control when he tried to avoid boxes

Michigan State Police say a 40-year-old Detroit man was killed Monday morning when his car lost control and flipped on I-96.

Police said it appears the driver, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, tried to avoid some empty boxes that were in the eastbound local lanes near Schaefer Highway.

The driver lost control, hit a median wall and the car flipped onto its roof, police said.

The driver's name is not yet being released.
