No injuries reported during car chase

DETROIT – Two Detroit men were arrested Sunday after breaking into the Capac Pharmacy early in the morning and leading police on a chase.

According to St. Clair County police, an alarm for the pharmacy on North Main Street went off at 2:42 a.m. at about the same time a witness called and said that the building was being broken into.

The witness said two people in hoodies got into a white sedan that left southbound on Capac Road.

Police waited for the car on I-69 near Allen Road and saw one matching its description shortly after 3 a.m. Police tried to stop the car, but it took off at a high speed and led a chase from I-69 to 24th street, to Lapeer Road, onto M-146 and then to westbound I-94.

Chesterfield Township police were asked to use stop sticks to end the chase, and used them in the area of I-94 and 23 Mile Road. After the car went over the stop sticks, police took the two suspects into custody at around 3:30 a.m.

The men in the car were ages 28 and 20.

Police believe the men are also responsible for two previous break-ins at the pharmacy on Sept. 23 and Oct. 14 last year.

Both men are being held at the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center. They are expected to face breaking and entering a business and fleeing and eluding charges.

There were no injuries reported during the chase.

The incident is still under investigation.
