Detroit mother shot inside home on city's east side

23-year-old mother in critical condition

DETROIT – A Detroit mother of two was hurt early Tuesday morning on the city's east side in a wild shootout that sent neighbors to their floors and cops running in every direction after the gunman.

Angela Taylor, 23, is in critical condition.

Witnesses told Local 4 they watched a man calmly walk into Taylor's front door on the corner of Lakepointe and Haverhill, not far from Wayne Elementary School.

Multiple shots were fired through the home's front widows, and witnesses said the gunman shot Taylor in front of her young children. The children weren't hurt.

Taylor was shot in her upper right chest. She has a collapsed lung but was alert and talking at the hospital. A source said she is expected to survive.

Someone inside Taylor's home returned fire by shooting at a dark colored Oldsmobile that drove away from the scene.

That Oldsmobile crashed into a woman's SUV and the people inside ran. Police haven't determined if they are the shooters.

Officers are questioning the man inside the home who fired back.
