Detroit Music Awards: Honoring musical tradition in Detroit

DETROIT – The Detroit Music Awards have been honoring the local music scene for over 20 years, and this year is no different.

The 24th annual Detroit Music Awards is Friday at the Filmore. There will be performances by:

  • Bettye Lavette
  • Phredley Brown
  • Jimmie Bones
  • Twiztid
  • The Infatuations
  • Los Hermanos
  • Terri Lea & The Mustags
  • The Motown Legends Gospel Choir

 

Three ‘Distinguished Achievement' Awards will be presented to metro Detroiters who have left a lasting impact on the local music scene. Honorees include:

  • Musician, Bettye Lavette
  • Program Director & Disc Jockey, Doug Podell
  • The Ark in Ann Arbor

 

The Detroit Music Awards event is open to the public. Tickets are $20.
