Detroit police: Carjackers go on spree Wednesday morning

DETROIT – Detroit police were on the hunt for a carjacking crew that went on an early morning robbery rampage.

At 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, a driver was carjacked at a Mobile gas station at Morang and Kelly on the city's east side. A few moments later, a driver was also carjacked at a gas station at 7 Mile Road and Chalmers. The men drove off in a PT Cruiser.

Just down the street at 7 Mile and Hayes, a woman was robbed of her Jeep Liberty while she was at the Sunoco gas station there.

At 7 a.m., one of the carjackers, driving one of the stolen cars, hit an oncoming car at Glenwood and Hayes. Two women in that car were injured.

Police said the men fled the scene.

Witnesses say with each of this morning's incidents, the men showed a handgun.

Three men were arrested later in the day.
