DETROIT -

Detroit police are raiding an area on the city's west side as part of an effort to round up more than 100 people wanted for outstanding warrants.

Dubbed "Operation Mistletoe," police said they have 115 warrants -- for things such as parole and probation violations, weapons charges, robbery, narcotics, home invasion and assaults -- for people living in "SCA 10-6." The area is bordered by Joy Road to the north, W. Grand Blvd. to the south, Grand River to the west and 14th Street to the east.

The department said it is by far, if not the largest, initiative in their history.

Police said they chose to focus on the area because it was top for shootings -- 27 total victims -- and of those 27 victims, 20 had a connection to illegal narcotics. Additionally, police said, there were 44 drug complaints made to a narcotics tip line that involved individuals in that area.
