Detroit police: Man fatally shot after taking too long to hand over valuables to robber

Shooting occurred on city's east side

DETROIT – A man was fatally shot after he took too long to hand over valuables during a robbery, police said.

The attempted robbery occurred in the 20000 block of Wexford in Detroit at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

Detroit police said the victim was sitting in his parked car when he was approached by another man. The man attempted to rob the victim, but the victim took too long to react. Police said that’s when the robber fatally shot him.

The shooter described as a black man who was last seen wearing a black varsity jacket.
