Detroit Police mourn death of veteran officer

Flint, MI. - The Detroit Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own.

Police officer Rodney Jones, a 28 year veteran, was competing in the "Bikes on the Bricks" event Saturday in Flint, Michigan, when he collapsed during the event.

The emergency medical technicians on scene quickly transported officer Jones to Hurley Hospital at approximately 4:00 p.m., where Officer Jones later died from a medical condition.

The 49-year-old officer is survived by his wife and children.
