Detroit police officers involved in rollover crash

Police officer extracted from vehicle on front lawn of residence on Greenfield Road

DETROIT – A Detroit police officer had to be extracted from his vehicle Wednesday afternoon after it rolled over at Greenfield Road and Santa Maria Avenue on the city's west side.

The officer was conscious and speaking when he was taken out of the vehicle, loaded onto a stretcher and taken to a hospital by EMS.

His condition is not known at this time. There were two other police officers in the vehicle at the time of the crash. It's not known if they were injured.

The crash was on Greenfield Road just south of Outer Drive. Greenfield Road was shut down while police investigated the scene.

At least one other vehicle was involved in the crash. Both vehicles ended up on the front lawn and driveway of a residence along Greenfield Road.

It's not clear how many people may have been injured.
